Placida, is a non-practising lawyer, trained in local government and democracy,
advocating for disabled professionals in the legal profession and a former member of
the Law Society of England &Wales Council representing disabled solicitors (2020-
2022) and dedicated member of the Disabled Solicitors Network and other law society
committees. Placida promotes equality through lived experience, professional competence coupled with compassionate & emotional intelligence, that motivates her passions. Placida has extensive experience and knowledge of disability inequalities and injustice.
As well as being a qualified social worker her interest areas include mental health, dementia and
wellbeing. Placida is politically knowledgeable, campaigning on disability and race intersectionality,
has past experience as a workplace mediator and with a biomedical science background. Has
knowledge of education as a school governor since 2012, focussed on SEND and inclusive education, staff wellbeing. Previously a patient governor at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (2018-24). From 2021-2023 Placida was an appointed member of the Healthcare Safety Investigations Branch (HSIB)’s Citizens’ Partnership advocating and influencing equality and diversity. Placida was listed in the 2018 Power 100 List of the most influential disabled people in Britain by the
Shaw Trust for law and politics and was long-listed in the London Assembly campaign.
Since 2023 Placida has been and continues to be director on the Black Solicitors Network board,
where she is committed to advocating for positive opportunities and change for all BSN members.
