Suzy Lamplugh Trust seeking trustee with legal background
Suzy Lamplugh Trust is looking to strengthen its board of trustees. If you have knowledge of law (preferably contract, tort and criminal) and recent experience of practice in at least some of those areas, and would like to contribute to the work of the leading personal safety charity, we would like to hear from you.
Suzy Lamplugh Trust was founded 30 years ago by Paul and Diana Lamplugh, after the disappearance of their daughter whilst going about her work as an estate agent, in order to campaign and work for ways of reducing violence and aggression in our society and to improve personal safety. Since that time it has moved from being a small, family-run organisation to a highly professional and well- respected national charity.
Suzy Lamplugh Trust aims to maintain a board of trustees with a wide range of skills. On the retirement of one of the trustees in 2016, the Trust will lose a long-serving member of the board who, as a practising barrister, regularly provides the board and director with valuable legal advice on a range of matters.
We are therefore looking for a practising lawyer to join the board.
We are looking for someone who can offer:
(essential)
Knowledge of law (preferably contract, tort and criminal) and recent experience of practice in at least some of those areas
Proven strategy skills
The ability to work with a board or committee and to support the Trust’s director
(desirable)
Experience of the charity sector
We are committed to equal opportunities and seek to build a diverse board of trustees. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and would particularly encourage applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
We pay trustees’ travel expenses and provide a full induction to the work of the charity.
The trustee we appoint will be expected to attend four Board meetings (held on a weekday evening in London) and approximately four other meetings or events per year.
