SPOTLIGHT ON AFRICA

“The African Corporate Story –

Are the Lion Economies Still Roaring?”

BSN City Group and International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA)* are delighted to invite you to our upcoming panel event featuring Africa emerging markets which will be hosted by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP on 12 September 2017.

The theme of this event, “Spotlight on Africa: The African corporate story – are the Lion economies still roaring?”, was chosen to spark a debate about the economic environment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), state owned companies (SOEs), local/regional companies and multinationals which are active in Africa:

In 2011, the Economist published a cover story on Africa’s political and economic climate entitled “Africa Rising”.  The term became common jargon to describe the continent’s prospective political and socio-economic trajectory.

Since then, the reality of the “Africa Rising” narrative has been mixed.  This panel event, involving speakers from investment banks, private equity funds and other leading market participants, will discuss the current performance of Africa’s economies through the lens of foreign and domestic corporations active on the continent.
